| Spectrum has been working with the Engineers and Scientists associated with www.plans-kits.com to design and prototype large microwave horn antennas for researching the effects of microwave oven conversions into weapons. This conversion is used by many "harassers" and would be harassers that don't cook themselves in the process of conversion. Microwave ovens use magnetrons to convert electrical current and strong magnetic fields directly into high energy microwaves which can cook you. By use of a horn antenna the beam can be collimated and directed much like a flashlight beam and not a laser. A standard 1000 watt microwave oven has an effective range of about 200 yards with a horn antenna attached. Spectrum is devising methods to help detect and shield from such weaponry.
